Rubber, as called
“Yang” in Thai, is significantly economic plant of Thailand.
Phraya Rasdanupradit Mahissara Phakdi, ruler of Trang
province then, initiated the idea of growing rubber
plants in Trang. He got the seeding stocks from Malaysia
and first planted them in Amphor Kantang, Trang province
in 1899. The first rubber tree in Thailand still stands
until today with an age of more than 100 years.
And nowadays natural rubber is a kind of main crops
that has the influence to the increase of the country’s
GDP and is very important to the world’s market as Thailand
is the world’s largest producer. The revenues from rubber
mainly arise from the production and exporting of raw
rubber.
